Academics

Due to the impacts of Winter Storm Fern, the university worked with the U.S. Department of Education to adjust the academic calendar for the Spring Semester. The adjustment allows for a shortened semester. Please note upcoming important dates and deadlines below. The complete academic calendar is available here.

• March 7–15: Spring Break

• March 16: Midterm exam grades due (modified)

• March 20: Withdrawal date (modified)

• April 3: Good Friday holiday

• April 13: Priority Registration for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 will take place in Banner, accessed through Experience (see Updated Registration & Experience Launch Dates below)

• May 1: Classes end

• May 4 to 8: Final Examinations

• May 9: Commencement Convocation (Individual school/program ceremonies may be scheduled on this date or on the days before or after May 9.)

We also have a shortened “First Spring Semester.” For courses offered during this shortened semester at the first part of the spring, the following information will apply. For First Spring Semester 2026, the semester will conclude as originally scheduled. Please see other notable dates from the academic calendar:

• March 4: Classes end

Updated Registration & Experience Launch Dates

• Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 Priority Registration

Priority Registration for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 will now begin on April 13, 2026, and take place in Banner, accessed through Experience. More information will be sent regarding advising appointments and registering for these semesters.

• Please note that Summer 2026, May Intersession, and August Intersession registration dates remain unchanged and will continue in myOleMiss. 

• Experience Launch

Experience was originally scheduled to launch on February 23, 2026. The new go-live date is March 16, 2026 (after Spring Break). Be on the lookout for additional information from Encompass.
