Are You Ready for Elephants? Study Abroad in June!

Join Dr. Laura Johnson on a classic "Bush and Beach Safari" with Community Conservation in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Deadline: March 31, 2018.


Northern Tanzania Safari See the best of African safaris – we bike, hike, and drive through Taranagire, Lake Manyara Parks and the Ngoro Ngoro Crater (8th wonder of the world) to see elephants, lions, and zebras and Maasai culture.  (Week 1) 

Mt. Kilimanjaro - partner with Tanzanian youth and the Mweka community (with Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots) for hands-on learning about the ice-covered  “roof top of Africa” . We plant trees, build fuel efficient stoves, take part in Chaaga dances, visit an organic family coffee farm, hike to a waterfall and swim in the “Hot Springs” oasis! (Week 2)

Island of Zanzibar – Swim the azure Indian Ocean, visit a spice farm, tour Stonetown’s ancient UNESO world Heritage sites, including the slave holding quarters, famous churches, and the market, learn about Islamic and Swahili culture, stroll Fordhani seafood market and eat a rooftop dinner with Tarab singers, relax on the Beach or snorkel. (Week 3)
