Males and females (18-35 years) whom are UNTRAINED, non-smokers, and free from any current or previous injury are needed for our study.

This study has been approved by the Institutions Review Board (IRB Protocol #: 18-084). The Neuromuscular Lab (Turner Center 243A) is looking for male and female volunteers for the upcoming study investigating, Rate of Force Development after performing two different fatiguing interventions of the elbow flexors. You must be at least 18 years old and cannot be older than 35 years of age and be considered untrained (i.e., no regimented resistance exercise within the previous 6 months).

Briefly, the study entails; you will come to the Neuromuscular Laboratory in Turner Room 243A on 4 separate occasions with brief (5-10 min) follow-ups. Total time commitment will be 5 hours maximum over the course of 4 weeks. Among these visits, the 1st will be familiarization of the procedures and equipment. Visits 2-4 will be randomized in that, you will be performing either elbow lengthening under tension or shortening contractions until failure, or control, in which only maximal contractions against an immovable object will be performed. During these visits, we will be analyzing the electrical activity of the muscle.

You must be UNTRAINED, no exercise 24 hours prior to any session, be a non-smoker and free from any current or previous (< 6 months) joint or muscle injury including, spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar), shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand.

Your participation would be greatly appreciated, is purely voluntary, and you will not be compensated.
