University of Mississippi United Way Drive

Please consider donating to the University of Mississippi's United Way campaign and help UM reach the goal of raising $140,000.

The University of Mississippi has been a valued partner of the United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County (UWOLC) since the organization's inception in 1970. Due to the generous support of University faculty, staff, and students, our local United Way creates positive and permanent change on a daily basis by fighting for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community. However, as needs continue to grow throughout the Lafayette-Oxford-University (LOU) community at an alarming rate, the UWOLC desperately needs your help in order to address them.

As part of its 2018-2019 United Way campaign, the University of Mississippi has set a goal of raising $140,000. Please note no contribution is too large or too small to make a significant impact. Whether it is $1 or $1 million, each tax-deductible donation to the UWOLC serves as an investment in our community and makes a meaningful difference. No matter your preferred payment method (payroll deduction, check, stock transfer, etc.), I encourage you to consider giving what your circumstances permit as our University partners with the UWOLC to address our community's most complex challenges.

Did you know a gift to our local United Way provides donors the means to support 25 local programs that touch thousands of lives in our community? Two of the referenced programs, Horizons and LOU Saves, originate on our campus through the McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement. However, numerous others have substantial University involvement as well. Please review the attached program list to see the considerable impact a single contribution can make. You can also learn more by visiting the UWOLC's website at www.unitedwayoxfordms.org.

The amount of FY 2018-2019 funding requested by the UWOLC's grant applicants earlier this year exceeded the amount of available funds by over $260,000. In order to close the identified disparity, our local United Way needs the University's support as it strives to improve lives as well as meet community needs by uniting people and resources. Please note 99% of the funds raised in our community stay here in order to help friends, family, and neighbors in need.

You should receive a mail-out via campus mail in the very near future that includes a pledge form you can fill out if you would like to contribute to the University's United Way campaign. Please note no action is required on your part if you wish to continue your current payroll deduction amount. However, if you have not previously given or would like to change your contribution total, please complete the form and return it via one of the identified methods (campus mail, regular mail, or email).

Thank you for your time as well as your dedicated service to the University of Mississippi and LOU community. Please know your dedicated support is greatly appreciated and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
