SMBHC competition for 2019 Faculty Summer Stipends

The SMBHC announces a competition for Faculty Summer Stipends to support faculty in designing honors courses

The SMBHC announces a competition for Faculty Summer Stipends to support faculty in designing honors courses to focus on major issues and opportunities in any academic discipline.  The coursework and pedagogy should be “visionary,” looking toward a highly analytical and deeply reflective grasp of the proposed subject.  In short, design a course that engages the questions that create directions and suggestions for policies to encourage an economically sound, socially responsible, better Mississippi in 2050—a place you would want your grandchildren to grow up.  Proposals are due by March 29; stipends of $5,000 will be awarded for course design during summer 2019, with courses to be taught sometime during the next two academic years.  More information is available on-line (2019 Summer Stipends).  All UM faculty members are invited to submit proposals.  Questions can be directed to Dean Douglass Sullivan-González, dsg@olemiss.edu.
