Disrupt the Culture Workshop

Workshops are now offered for registered student organizations to explore and analyze their culture regarding a specific health behavior.

Disrupt the Culture Workshop

Disrupt the Culture is a series of sessions aimed to change the campus culture in a healthy and holistic way. Originally, Disrupt the Culture was developed to critically think about altering substance use behaviors within an organization, but has transformed into exploring all health dimensions. Many students matriculate to college with established, unhealthy habits, and the college environment can exacerbate the problem. Disrupt the Culture will allow registered student organizations to take a deep dive into their organization to explore and analyze their culture regarding a specific health behavior. WE will then provide the tools and develop a plan to become a positive, campus voice by making intentional, systemic changes within each organization to disrupt the current culture of unhealthy behaviors. Some topics may include, but not limited to:

  • Substance Use
  • Healthy Eating
  • Stress Management
  • Physical Activity

How it works: There will be approximately four workshops:

  1. Discussion on campus culture around selected health behavior
  2. Analyze organization’s culture
  3. Plan for change
  4. Implementation of change

Members of the Executive board, Leadership team, Risk Management, or other designee are required to attend workshops. Be prepared to engage in thoughtful discussion and provide insight.

Time Commitment: Each session will last about 1.5 to 2 hours. Outside time commitment will also be necessary.

Facilitators: Wellness Education staff including a graduate assistant along with additional professional staff.
