Lifeguarding Session I

Campus Recreation offers full American Red Cross Lifeguard certification courses.


Campus Recreation offers full American Red Cross Lifeguard certification courses.
There is a maximum of 12 spots available for each class. Participants must attend all three days of the session in order to receive lifeguard certification. Participants must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled class of their preferred session. The cost is $250.00.

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies, breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses.

Required Prerequisite Swim Test:

  1. Participants must swim 300 yards while continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing, using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both
  2. Participants must tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
  3. Participants must complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds

Session I –February 28 – March 1

All sessions meet the following hours:

  • Friday 6pm-9pm
  • Saturday 10am-4pm
  • Sunday 1pm-5pm
