Please join the English Department as they welcome two award-winning poets to campus on Thursday, Feb 20th at 6 pm.
Joseph O. Legaspi was born and raised in the Philippines; his family immigrated to Los Angeles when he was 12. He earned a BA at Loyola Marymount University and an MFA from New York University. Legaspi’s collections of poetry include Threshold (2017), Imago (2007), which won a Global Filipino Literary Award, and the chapbook Subways (2013). His honors and awards include a poetry fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts. With Sarah Gambito, Legaspi cofounded Kundiman, a nonprofit organization that promotes and serves Asian American writers and writing. Legaspi lives and works in New York City.
Sarah Gambito is the author of the poetry collections Delivered (Persea, 2009) and Matadora (Alice James, 2004). Her honors include the Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Award from Poets and Writers and the Wai Look Award for Outstanding Service to the Arts from the Asian American Arts Alliance. She is Associate Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing at Fordham University and co-founder of Kundiman, a non-profit organization serving Asian American writers.
The dual reading will take place in Bryant Hall 209. Q&A and book-signing afterwards.
