FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Championship at Ole Miss

Volunteers needed for Mississippi FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Tournament on February 28-29, 2020.

The Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) at the University of Mississippi is proud to sponsor the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics program in Mississippi.  We have over 65 teams in the state and 24 of them have qualified to compete at the Mississippi Championship.  Each of these teams has competed in Qualifying Tournaments throughout the state to earn their spot here and then qualify for the World Championships in Houston, TX in April.  We are looking for individuals that would be interested in volunteering at the Jackson Avenue Center on Friday, February 28 from 3:30 – 6:00 and at the Tad Smith Coliseum on Saturday, February 29 from 10:00 – 5:00 (shifts are also available).  Positions that need staffing include Judge Queuers and Timers, Match Queuers, Field Resetters, and Floaters. Help is also needed for tournament set up on Friday, February 28 from 10:00 – 3:00 (at the Coliseum). All Saturday volunteers will be fed lunch and given a T-shirt.  To sign up, please email Mannie Lowe, FIRST Program Manager at mlowe@olemiss.edu and let him know your interest and availability. He will send you more information about the positions required and where/how to sign up.

Come be a part of the fun and excitement of the one and only “Sport for the Mind.” If you have any questions, please contact Mannie via email: mlowe@olemiss.edu or call: 662-915-6621.
