Listening Session: Concerns about Institutional Process

Join us for a listening session on Concerns about Institutional Processes for Salary, Harassment, and Grievance on November 11, 2020 an 1pm

The Sarah Isom Center is hosting a listening session for faculty and staff to discuss their experiences with institutions on campus designed to remedy injustices and prevent harassment and abuse.  In recent weeks, we have heard about a number of troubling experiences that faculty and staff have had with colleagues, chairs, and upper administration.  Even more worrying is that the processes set up to resolve such issues equitably, including EORC, the grievance process through HR, and the newly formed Task Force on the Gender and Racial Wage Gap, often don’t seem to have the safeguards and transparent processes necessary to ensure fair results.

We invite a larger conversation with faculty and staff across campus to discuss experiences and concerns in a safe environment. We plan to consolidate the feedback and provide it (with individuals’ identities protected) to university leadership.

University Ombuds, Paul Caffera, has agreed to attend this listening session in order to hear your concerns and answer your questions.  Those who don’t feel comfortable speaking in a larger meeting may contact either the Isom Center or the Ombuds office to share that information privately.
