Join Us for First-Generation Student Celebration Week!

Join StudentsFIRST, Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College and First-Gen Student Network, and the University next week (click for details)


StudentsFIRST, the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, the SMBHC First-Gen Student Network, and the University are marking the First-Generation College Student Celebration Day (November 8th), with a week of events starting November 2nd through November 6th.

 

November 2nd: Kick-off Breakfast with University leadership.  Location/time: The Grove Stage at 9am to 10am (central time).  Food limited to the first 100 students.  Grab a breakfast to-go and chat with university leadership.  This event will follow social distancing guidelines.

 

November 3rd: Election Day, Go Vote!

 

November 4th: Virtual Keynote Speaker, Jarvis Benson (UM class of 2019) will share his experience embracing his identity as a first-generation college student. (Will start at 4:00pm central time)

 

November 5th: Virtual Documentary Screening of Kansas State University’s “A Walk in My Shoes.” (Will start at 5pm central time)

 

November 6th: Virtual Student Panel with current first-generation students and Raffle (Will start at 12:00pm central time)  ***Students will earn a raffle entry for each event they participate in.

The Career Center is also sponsoring Linkedin Headshots scheduled for First-Gen students on Nov 4th  from 11am - 3pm at the Career Center.
