Current UM Students Can Apply to the Honors College

Any UM student on the main campus with at least 45 earned hours of college credit and a 3.50 cumulative GPA is eligible to join the SMBHC.

The Sally McDonnell Honors College welcomes current UM students with at least  45 earned hours of college credit and a 3.50 cumulative GPA to apply to join a community of citizen scholars. As part of the SMBHC these students will embark upon honors research, practicum, or project which will culminate in a thesis that is defended publicly and made available online for the world to discover. This work is completed under the direction of a faculty advisor/mentor. Like all SMBHC students, there is the requirement of at least 10 community action hours per semester while you are a member of the SMBHC. Current students who join the SMBHC will be required to take only one 3 credit honors course at some point before graduation. At the Honors Commissioning Ceremony you will graduate as an Honors Scholar in your major (upon successful completion of your thesis, defense, taking one course, and a 3.50 GPA), and this honor is denoted on both your transcript and your diploma.

Are you ready to join this community of citizen scholars?
