Accessibility Tip: Heading Structure Makes a Big Impact

Proper headings on documents and websites can help visually impaired learners. Drop in and find out more online Tues., March 2 at 2 p.m.

Join UM's Accessibility Solutions team at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2 for a quick, 10-minute workshop that will guide you in making your heading structures for websites and documents (Word and PDF) accessible for all students, faculty, and staff.

Since Blackboard is built on HTML, there will also be tips on providing proper heading structure and formatting there as well—especially when there is a student with a vision impairment.

Drop in anytime between 2 and 3 p.m. to get answers to other accessibility questions including:

  • Do I have to caption all the videos in my course?
  • How and when does my department have to provide live captioning?

Lindsey Sneed and Jennifer Bland will be available to answer your questions during Accessibility Solutions Office Hours each week. Sessions will start with a quick tip that everyone can apply in their department, including the final two Office Hours meetings for February.
