Fall Graduate Course on Public Mental Health

HP 665: Special Topics in Health Behavior will be offered this fall as an in-person course for grad students, with a focus on mental health.


Dr. Hannah Allen will be offering HP 665: Special Topics in Health Behavior this fall as an in-person course for graduate students. The course description is below, and any questions related to the course can be directed to Dr. Allen at hkallen1@olemiss.edu. All interested graduate students are encouraged to register.

Course Description: Mental Health as a Public Health Issue
This course will focus on a public health approach to mental health and mental health disorders. Through lecture, readings, and activities, students will develop a population-based understanding of mental health and substance use through a course emphasis on behavioral, social, and structural risk factors and consequences of mental health disorders. The course material will also cover the use of public health programs to address mental health, and students will learn about strategies to promote mental wellness and build resilience throughout the lifespan.
