UM Memo-Important

LAST DAY for free J&J vaccines at Orientation, 11am-2pm

Monday, 6/21 is the last Orientation day for free Johnson & Johnson vaccines, in Student Union room 332, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. No appt. needed.

The university is offering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine for faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students and the families of those in the university community ages 18 and up, on the University of Mississippi, Oxford campus, while supplies last. No appointment is necessary.

How do I get a vaccine?

Faculty, staff, students and families may walk up without an appointment to the Student Union, room 332, Monday, June 21, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., to receive the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. This will be the last day to get the J&J vaccine at 2021 Orientation.

Medical paperwork is available on the vaccination webpage to print, fill out and bring with you to the vaccination site. Blank medical paperwork will also be available at the vaccination site.

Who is eligible?

The governor has opened up vaccination opportunities to all Mississippians. This includes non-resident students, who can use their Oxford/campus address when registering for a vaccine. The on-campus vaccination site will serve everyone in the University of Mississippi community — faculty, staff, graduate students and undergraduate students — as well as their families. The vaccine will be administered free of charge.

What if I have a history of anaphylaxis?

If you have a history of anaphylaxis* and carry an EpiPen, you will need to receive your vaccine in a clinical setting such as Baptist Memorial Hospital. You can schedule an appointment with BHM by calling (662) 636-4353.

*anaphylaxis – a severe allergic reaction that leads to wheezing, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, rash, swelling in the throat and lowered blood pressure that starts between five to 30 minutes after contact with an allergen.
