UM Grad Students interested in communication & outreach

Oxford Science Cafe is planning on expanding podcast, 'Ssippin' Science' to interview past speakers!

We have an opportunity for UM graduate students interested in science communication and outreach: the Oxford Science Cafe is turning 10 this year! To commemorate, we plan on expanding our accompanying podcast, "Ssippin' Science" to interview past speakers and turn our existing cafe recordings into science podcasts. We invite all interested graduate students to contribute over the summer to various aspects of this production!

By participating, you can gain valuable skills such as:

- Communicating complex scientific ideas to the general public in a crisp, cohesive narrative

- Audio storytelling and practicing one's 'presenter voice', which can add value to any kind of presentation

- Audio Editing using Audacity, an excellent open-source software

- Interviewing for our 10-year anniversary series that will feature scientists who have previously given talks at the Oxford Science Cafe

- Valuable exposure in science communication: our podcast is released on all popular platforms including Apple PodcastsSpotify, and Google Podcasts.
