Parking and Transportation

Enforcement by license plate recognition begins Aug. 16

Drivers who prefer to back in may use a front-facing Ole Miss license plate or bumper sticker.

Beginning Fall 2022, faculty/staff, pavilion garage, and commuter parking permit holders will no longer need to keep a hangtag or decal on their car when parking on campus. This change is made possible by license plate reading technology, which will scan a vehicle’s license plates.

Permitted vehicle owners who prefer to back into or pull through a parking spot may now purchase a unique, Ole Miss-branded vanity plate from the Department of Parking and Transportation (DPT) at the south campus whirlpool office for $10. A free front bumper sticker option will also be available. This does not replace state license plates and is primarily for rear plate only states to assist with the License Plate recognition technology.
