The HR L+D & Benefits teams would like to invite you to attend the upcoming Financial/Retirement Planning Series.


Just in time for October's Financial Planning Month, the HR L+D/Benefits team would like to invite you to attend the upcoming Financial/Retirement Planning Series.

This series includes a number of sessions designed to assist our faculty and staff in making educated decisions about financial and retirement planning. This series offers an overview of important topics to consider as you prepare and plan for your future. These sessions are developed so that you can attend them individually or multiple sessions as part of this financial/retirement series.

The Financial Risk of Long-Term Care by William Morris Group, P.A.

Tuesday, Oct. 4th at 2 PM in the JAC Auditorium B

This session will focus on the cost of long-term care services, the availability of government programs, and how long-term care insurance can help to protect your retirement benefits. This is an important topic that impacts all Americans and their families at one time or another.

 

Preparing Basic Wills and Legal Documents

Tuesday, Oct. 11th at 2 PM in the JAC Auditorium B

During this session, you will receive information related to basic estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, probates, advanced healthcare directives and important points to consider when preparing legal documents. Furthermore, we will have an in-depth review of the two types of wills that are recognized in the state of Mississippi.

 

Budgeting and Financial Planning for Faculty and Staff

Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 2 PM in the JAC Auditorium B

This session is designed to educate on the importance of budgeting, controlled spending, investing, and creating/managing your financial plan. We will provide useful tools to assist you on your journey toward financial independence and address spending habits that typically cause financial hardships.

 

Social Security: Securing Your Future

Thursday, Oct. 27th at 2 PM in the JAC Auditorium B

Social Security is a retirement income source with some control and a variety of selections.  It is also said to be one of the most important phases of retirement planning.  During this session, you will learn about how to qualify for social security, how to determine your benefits, select the optimum time to begin collecting the benefit, and become familiar with other types of benefits such as disability, survivor options, and Medicare.

 

Financial Wellness: The Benefits of Investing

Tuesday, Nov. 1st at 2 PM in the JAC Auditorium B

Have you ever thought about participating in the University Supplemental retirement program but are unsure where to begin? Take the first step and register for this financial wellness session. This panel session is designed to help you understand the role of investing, managing investment risks, augmenting programs to help accelerate savings, and tools to sustain a successful portfolio. Representatives from Voya, TIAA, CAPTRUST, and Mississippi Deferred Compensation Plan & Trust (MDC) are ready to answer your questions and educate you on the benefits of investing in the market.

 

PERS: Early Career/New Employee Seminar

Tuesday, Nov. 8th at 2 PM in the JAC Auditorium B

Typically for newer employees (1-4 years of service), this seminar offers an overview of PERS and what it means to be a part of a defined benefit plan like PERS. This seminar will be led by a PERS representative. Additionally, a representative of Mississippi Deferred Compensation Plan & Trust (MDC) will be available to discuss the benefits of enrolling in MDC.

 

PERS: Understanding Your State Retirement Benefits

Wednesday, Nov. 9th at 2 PM in the JAC Auditorium B

This seminar is more in-depth regarding PERS information for those who are closer to being vested or mid-way eligible for retirement (5-20 years of service). This seminar will be led by a PERS representative. Additionally, a representative of Mississippi Deferred Compensation Plan & Trust (MDC) will be available to discuss the benefits of enrolling in MDC.
