Space Grant $5000 Awards Solicitation

MSSGC is soliciting student research grant proposals ($5000) in any field (STEM or otherwise) that have relevance to NASA.

The UM Chapter of the Mississippi Space Grant Consortium (MSSGC) is soliciting proposals for mentor-led student support in any field that has relevance to one or more of NASA’s four mission directorates. The research initiation grants are aimed at strengthening research competitiveness with the inclusion of undergraduate or graduate researchers.

Proposals of $5,000 each are being solicited in support of NASA-related research from any discipline, even those outside of STEM. Each proposal is nominally geared to support one student, but the proposals must be submitted from the faculty mentor. Each mentor may submit more than one proposal for students working on different projects. The delineation in “different projects” is left to the discretion of the UM Campus Coordinator. Clearly spelled out distinctions are preferred.

Proposals may be submitted for the period starting January 1, 2023 and must be obligated in full by May 31, 2023. The UM MSSGC Campus Coordinator anticipates funding as many proposals as possible.  However, each may not request more than $5,000 per proposal.  There are no restrictions on the status of the mentor as these funds will be utilized directly by students.
