Sustainability
Seeking Faculty and Student Representatives
Interested in sustainability at UM? Apply to serve on the UM Green Fund, which supports sustainability projects proposed by campus members.
Who May Apply
The UM Green Fund Committee is currently accepting applications for one new faculty representative and two at-large student representatives.
About the Fund
The University of Mississippi Green Fund (UMGF) exists to support, promote, and fund innovative sustainability projects at the University of Mississippi, specifically those spearheaded by campus members (rather than led from the UM Office of Sustainability).
The UMGF Committee is administered by two faculty representatives, two staff representatives, two student organization representatives and three student voters at large. The UM Office of Sustainability facilitates the committee, but does not have a voting role.
The duties of the UMGF committee shall be to:
- Meet in fall semester to determine meeting and funding cycle schedule;
- Review proposals as they are submitted; grade each proposal by the criteria outlined in the UMGF charter;
- Select proposals for funding in November;
- Determine any additional funding rounds the UMGF would like to solicit;
- Monitor the progress of funded projects and provide guidance and assistance to project teams as necessary;
- Plan, communicate and execute any events or programming around fundraising for the UMGF.
Proposal Authorship
UMGF Committee Members MAY submit proposal applications to the Green Fund while serving as members of the committee but cannot vote on their own proposal.
Term
UMGF representatives may serve up to two academic years, but may renew at the end of their term if they wish to continue serving.
