Join a Research Study on Time-Restricted Eating
Healthy adults with a sedentary lifestyle and higher body weight are invited for a 9-week study on time-restricted eating. Compensation-$80.
Time-restricted eating study participants needed
This research study aims to understand the acceptability and safety of time-restricted eating as well as its impact on body composition in healthy, sedentary adults who are overweight between 19 to 65 years.
Who may be eligible?
If you are a healthy, sedentary adults with overweight BMI between 19 to 65 years. Must meet other health-related criteria determined by a screening questionnaire and during the first lab visit screening
What do you have to do?

If you pass the online screening survey, you will be invited to the lab in Lenoir Hall, fasting overnight for a second screening to measure body weight, height and body composition.
- If eligible, you will be randomly assigned to one of the following groups:
- Group 1: Follow time-restricted eating for 8 weeks
- Group 2: usual eating habits for 8 weeks
- The total commitment for this study will be 9 weeks.
- 4 lab visits to Lenoir Hall – (4 x 30= ~ 2-2.5 hours)
- 4 calls to assess your diet. – (4x30 = 2 hours)
- 2 Zoom interviews – (35 ins + 45 mins = ~1.5 hours)

Why you might not want to participate?
If you are in the time-restricted eating group: You may experience lightheadedness, fatigue, hunger/ stomach discomfort, nutritional deficiencies, and sleep disturbances due to fasting and risk for disordered eating may increase in some when following time-restricted eating.

You will learn how to follow time-restricted feeding and get detailed information about your body composition and diet at the end of the study

The Principal investigator of this study is Dr. Nadeeja Wijayatungs in the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management at the University of Mississippi.
